Swimmers from all over the country were here to compete in this very good level 1 meeting.
Our swimmers performed very well with some very fine performances as usual and some very impressive personal best times.
Contratulations to Mary-Anne Grego (50m Breaststroke) and Tommy Ruler (50m Backstroke) for their Bronze Medals in highly competitive age groups and well done to all of you for your 16 very impressive personal best times.
A high level meet with few of our swimmers qualifying. Most of you who came along improved your county times with some fine personal best times and some great performances.
We achieved 17 new personal best times from 26 races most of which fed into better county times and all of which helped our small team to represent our club so well in such a good meet.
One particular high light is Joe Lawrie taking his personal best time in the 50m Freestyle from 30.01 to 28.49, first time under 30 seconds, well done Joe on training hard and competing so well to achieve this great milestone.
We were also treated to a fine display of freestyle swimming from GB swimmer Craig Gibbons who recorded 23.10 seconds for the 50m Freestle and 50.34 in the 100m Freestle, great to watch and inspirational to all of us who watched him.
This was the first meet held exclusively for Thame, Aylesbury and Bourne End SC and was designed to target our swimmers with near or consideration times for Counties.
Despite the snow, we had a successful meet, missing the swimmers not able to get to Aylesbury but setting some very good times, improving personal best times and achieving more county times than we would have one without this meeting.
A big thank you to Chris O'Connell, Claire Wotherspoon, Grace Grego and Claire Donlon for your efforts in representing us round the pool and organising our part of the competition.
Results to follow later.
Our first joint venture with Aylesbury District SC and Thame SC, giving our swimmers the opportunity to swim 400m Freestyle and 400m I.M. events and try to achieve county times.
We had a great evening with all the swimmers appreciating the efforts from all around the pool officiating, timekeeping and organising the swimmers.
We will be holding the full BAT meet on Sunday 10th January 2010 where we will again join with Aylesbury and Thame to compete in 100m and 200m events to aim at county qualifications as well as update our times for future competition entries.
Very small number of swimmers for this shortened meet but worth attending for some good times.
Well done to Mary-Anne Grego, Fabrice Hammerlindl, Sian Wotherspoon and Tommy Ruler on improving their county times for March next year. Keep up the good work.
