Wycombe Sprint Meet

Our small team of swimmers achieved a great set of performances at the Wycombe Sprints Meet with lots of personal best times and a bronze for Finn Bailey in his 50m Freestyle in 28.16 and a sliver for Lucy Wheeler in her 50m Freestyle in 33.90, well done to you all.

We were honoured to compete this weekend with 4 swimmers from the Maldovan olympic swimming team competing in this competition as a warm up for teh European Championships and showing us what olympic swimming looks like. Good luck in London guys!

With 18 new personal best times, our swimmers kept up their level of performance all through a hot day ending up with yet another great demonstration of how well our swimmers perform in competition.

Thanks to Wendy Healey and Sarah Haveron Jones for organising our swimmers on the day and to Claire Wotherspoon who stood as judge for session 3. Thanks all for supporting our team.

BEJSC Spring Championships

Thank you to all swimmers and parents for a great event on 5th May for the first of our two weeks of Club Champs. We started with the Court Garden swimmers showing us what they can do in their 25m freestyle sprint then we got into the main club champs with some very fine performances across the age groups and strokes.

We could easily see that our swimmers have been working very hard in training in order to create the fine performances we saw all night. These times are now on the Swimmers Times section in this website and you will be able to print these and use them to set new targets for your next swim with our club.

Unfortunately we also had a number of disqualifications for our swimmers. Our championships are run under ASA rules and so our swimmers need to carry out their performances according to the ASA rules and unfortunately we have to disqualify a swimmer if our judges see an issue. It is important that our swimmers understand why they were disqualified. Come and talk to Andy Ruler or your poolside coach if you do not understand your DQ.

This was another outstanding effort from our team of volunteer parents standing as officials, recorders, time keepers, whips and announcer. We are entirely an entirely volunteer club and are so pleased to see so many coming down to poolside to help our team organise such a fantastic swimming opportunity for our children.

Chiltern League Round 3

This was the last of the three rounds of the Chiltern League, this time at the Gutteman pool in Stoke Mandeville.

Our team started very well with a lot of personal best times with our usual high quality performance across the age groups. We were joint 4th after 10 events, 3rd after 20 events, second after 30 events and JOINT FIRST after 40 events. Unfortunately the other teams near us did better in the final relay events leaving us a very close third to Putteridge in 2nd and Linslade in first.

Huge thanks to all our swimmers over the three Chiltern League rounds for representing our club so well. Special thanks to Claire Wotherspoon, Marlene James and Wendy Healy for standing as Judges, Claire Donlon and Brian Bowker for timekeeping, Judy Keeley for organising the team travel, Nigel Gooddy and Alison Branch for organising the swimmers and to Grace Grego for putting the team together and making sure the evening was a success. Great team performance and great result, well done all.

ONB County Championships

In the smallest field at Counties for years due to the building works at the Aquavale, we had 5 swimmers whose times had been accepted for counties this year, Tommy Ruler, Mary-Anne Grego, Lucy Wheeler, Finn Bailey and Alex Haveron Jones.

Our swimmers competed superbly well setting 6 new club records and a further 8 personal best times on the way to 6 finals and we got some great feedback on the performances of our swimmers which is great credit to our coaching team and to the swimmers who trained hard, prepared well and achieved such hard standards at this flagship meet for our swimming year.

Tommy Ruler improved his 14 and Under 100m and 200m Backstroke records, Mary-Anne Grego improved her 12 and Under 100m and 200m Breaststroke records, Lucy Wheeler set a new 12 ans under 100m Freestyle record and Finn Bailey set a new 14 and Under 50m Freestyle record. Good job and congratulations to you all.

Thanks to Grace Grego and Martin Wheeler for attending poolside and to Chris O Connell for joining the officials team for this gala. Also congratulations to Claire Wotherspoon and Sandra Cox who achieved sign off on their Level 1 Judge qualification.
